Built specifically for the Internet of Things (IOT), IOTA (MIOTA) is a distributed ledger created through a network of nodes. The Internet of Things is the connection of objects (mechanical, electrical, and even animate) to one another via the Internet so that they can directly share data and transact without use of a computer. Thus, IOTA is designed to enable and record the transactions, no matter how small or numerous, in a secure way free of middlemen.  But IOTA is not a blockchain. Instead, its proprietary technology is the Tangle, which is a network of nodes that approve transactions by validating two previous transactions from another node. As more transactions accumulate, the network is made more secure, allowing the system to remain light-weit, accommodate micro-transactions, and avoid fees.
