What Is Bitcoin Gold?
Bitcoin Gold is a hard fork of the original open source cryptocurrency which took place on October 24, 2017. Bitcoin gold developers adopted a new algorithm for the mining process called Equihash, which assures that the new branch of the world's most popular cryptocurrency by market cap would not disproportionately favor major mining operations.Bitcoin Gold was designed to decentralize mining and to verify and validate Bitcoin transactions. BTG is a cryptocurrency with Bitcoin fundamentals, mined on common GPUs instead of specialty ASICs. GPU mining means anyone can mine again - restoring decentralization and independence. GPU mining rewards go to individuals worldwide, instead of mostly to ASIC warehouse owners, recreating network effects that Bitcoin used to have.
